"This key is already associated with an element of this collection" error appears when creating a new MDX report in MicroStrategy Developer 9.x

SUMMARY:
This document shows one issue that "This key is already associated with an element of this collection" error appears when creating a new MDX report in Strategy Developer 9.x. It is caused due to the imported MDX cube having duplicate dimension objects which share the same attribute.

SYMPTOM:
"This key is already associated with an element of this collection" error appears when creating a new MDX report against one MDX cube or browsing the cube structure in Data Explorer in Strategy Developer 9.x as shown below:


This key is already associated with an element of this collection

CAUSE:
One possible cause is that the imported MDX cube contains duplicate dimension objects which share the same attribute.
In order to track down the cause of this behavior, customers encountering this issue should make note of MDX data source and Strategy Schema-related changes, Object Migrations, or error messages prior to experiencing the problem. Change Journaling, if it has been enabled, can help in preserving this information.

ACTION:
Contact Strategy Technical Support to remove the inconsistency.
