KB248262: "KML file request failed! null" when running a ESRI map configured to use Custom Shape with large KML file in MicroStrategy Web 9.4.1 HF3 and above and 10.x.

SYMPTOM:
Starting from Strategy Web 9.4.1 Hotfix 3, it is possible to use a KML file as Custom Shape for ESRI map. When a user runs an ESRI map with a large KML file, the following error occurs:


KML file request failed! null

When checking a Fiddler log, the following record may be found for the getESRIKMLConfig request:


Server Error in '/Strategy' Application
java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space

CAUSE:
This is caused by insufficient Java heap space.
