This technical note outlines an issue when attempting to upgrade a Strategy metadata from 9.x to 10.0.0 where a database error is thrown.
When attempting to upgrade a metadata from 9.x to 10.0.0, users might see a driver error related to the 'DSSCSDEVCKEY' table and either the "TOKEN_TYPE', 'CREATION_TIME', or 'MODIFICATION_TIME' columns. The syntax of the error varies depending on the driver/RDBMS, but examples are outlined below of Oracle and SQL Server:
Oracle:
Error type: Odbc error. Odbc operation attempted: SQLExecDirect. [42S21:0: on SQLHANDLE] [Strategy][ODBC Oracle Wire Protocol driver][Oracle]ORA-01430: column being added already exists in table DSN=XXX;. SQL Statement: ALTER TABLE DSSCSDEVCKEY ADD (TOKEN_TYPE NUMBER(10)).
Error type: Odbc error. Odbc operation attempted: SQLExecDirect. [42S21:2705: on SQLHANDLE] [Strategy][ODBC SQL Server Wire Protocol driver][Microsoft SQL Server]Column names in each table must be unique. Column name 'TOKEN_TYPE in table "DSSCSDEVCKEY' is specified more than once.
The issue is most likely due to a partially upgraded metadata repository that already has the specified column as part of the table.
Contact Strategy Technical Support with a backup of the metadata in question for assistance with this issue.
