SQLColumns error in MicroStrategy Developer 10.0 Warehouse Catalog when using the ‘Impala 2.x’ database object, Impala 2.1.1/2.1.2/2.1.3/2.1.4 and a table with column of data type VARCHAR

Symptom:
When using the Strategy Developer 10 Warehouse Catalog along with Impala 2.1.1 - 2.1.4 the following error may be received when processing a table structure with any columns defined using VARCHAR:

ka02R000000kbvnQAA_0EM440000002JAx.jpeg

Cause:
This issue is cased by bug introduced with Impala 2.1.1(https://issues.cloudera.org/browse/IMPALA-1796). This bug causes the ODBC call SQLColumns to fail for tables which have columns with the datatype VARCHAR.
Action:
The issue is resolved in Impala 2.2 and higher releases. The issue can also be avoided on effected versions by modifying the DDL of the effected table to use STRING datatype instead of VARCHAR.
