In MicroStrategy 10.1, Usher MySQL password for Usher Security Server, Usher Network Manager, and Usher Mobile, Usher Analytics, and Usher Mobile is encrypted with 128-bit by default. If users prefer higher encryption, this tech note describes the steps required to use 258-bit encryption.

In Strategy 10.1, Usher MySQL password for Usher Security Server, Usher Network Manager, and Usher Mobile, Usher Analytics, and Usher Mobile is encrypted with 128-bit by default. If users prefer higher encryption, this tech note describes the steps required to use 258-bit encryption.

Steps:

If your Linux doesn't have 258-bit Jave Cryptography Extension (JCE) Unlimited Strength Jurisdiction Policy Files, follow step 1 and 2.

  1. Download Jave Cryptography Extension (JCE) Unlimited Strength Jurisdiction Policy Files for your JAVA version, e.g. JDK 7: 
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jce-7-download-432124.html
  2. Replace local_policy.jar and US_export_policy.jar in your JAVA path, e.g. /usr/java/jsk_1.7.0_75/jre/lib/security
  3. Download the 10.1 installation.
  4. Go to /.../Installations/QueryReportingAnalysis_Linux/jre/lib/security directory.
  5. Replace local_policy.jar and US_export_policy.jar  downloaded in step 1.
  6. Run installation.
