KB262105: Is SSL connectivity supported for MongoDB in MicroStrategy 10.0 and 10.1?

This community article explains that MicroStrategy 10.0 and 10.1 are shipped with the Data Direct MongoDB driver version 7.1.4, which does not support SSL connectivity. An enhancement request has been logged to use MongoDB driver version 7.1.5 (which includes SSL support) in future releases of MicroStrategy.

SUMMARY
This community article explains that Strategy 10.0 and 10.1 are shipped with the Data Direct MongoDB driver version 7.1.4, which does not support SSL connectivity. An enhancement request has been logged to use MongoDB driver version 7.1.5 (which includes SSL support) in future releases of Strategy.

SYMPTOM
When trying to connect to MongoDB using Strategy 10.0 and 10.1, the following error message is returned:

ka04W000000OeaXQAS_0EM4400000029DD.jpeg

[Strategy][ODBC MongoDB driver][MongoDB]No more data available to read.

In addition, if the SSL encryption is enforced in the ODBC.ini file (Unix) by adding the parameter "EncryptionMethod=1", the following error message is returned:

ka04W000000OeaXQAS_0EM4400000029DE.jpeg

[S1000:0 on HDBC][Strategy][ODBC MongoDB driver]An invalid encryption method was specified. Valid values are: 0.

It can also be observed that when opening the ODBC Administrator (Windows) to configure a MongoDB DSN that has been created by Connectivity Wizard, the "Security" tab where the Encryption Method would be set, is not present.

CAUSE
A likely cause for this error message is that the MongoDB Enterprise Database is set to use SSL for every database connection.
Strategy 10.0 and 10.1 are shipped with the Data Direct MongoDB driver version 7.1.4, which does not support SSL connectivity.

ACTION
Data Direct driver for MongoDB version 7.1.5 has added support for SSL. An enhancement request is in process with Strategy to include the version 7.1.5 of the driver in futue releases of Strategy.
Contact Strategy Technical Support for an update on this enhancement request.
The Strategy internal reference rumber for this issue is: US28739.
