'Error in AlternateServers near' message occurs after inputting several alternative servers for an Oracle DSN in the odbc.ini file in MicroStrategy Developer 10.x on Linux platforms

SYMPTOM:
After inputting several alternative servers for an Oracle DSN in the odbc.ini file on Linux, report execution fails with error message in Strategy Developer 10.x, as shown below:
 


QueryEngine encountered error: Connect failed.
Error type: Odbc error. Odbc operation attempted: SQLDriverConnect. [HY000:6099: on SQLHANDLE] [Strategy][ODBC Oracle Wire Protocol driver]Error in AlternateServers near.

 
CAUSE:
On Linux platform, the maximum length allowed for the parameter AlternateServers is 508 characters. When the parameter exceeds the length, the issue occurs.
 
WORKAROUND:
Keep the parameter AlthernateServers shorter than 508 characters.
The Strategy Internal Reference Number for the issue discussed in this technical note is DE22105.
