In MicroStrategy Secure Enterprise 10.1, MapR Drill ODBC Driver 1.0.x is supported to establish connectivity to MapR Drill 1.0.

Introduction
In Strategy Secure Enterprise 10.1, MapR Drill ODBC Driver 1.0.x is supported to establish connectivity to MapR Drill 1.0.

The section below provides steps to establish ODBC connectivity to MapR Drill 1.0 from Strategy 10.1 running on Linux operating systems.

Configuration

  1. Install the certified ODBC Driver( MapR Drill ODBC Driver 1.0.x) to connect to MapR Drill.
  2. Locate the odbc.ini file found in the home directory of the Strategy installation.
  3. Edit the odbc.ini file to add the following content at the end of the file to create a new DSN for MapR Drill. Add the DSN name to the ODBC header section at the beginning of the file. Sections marked with <> (in bold) should be filled in by users depending on their environment.

    [MapR_Drill]
    Driver=<FULL PATH TO DRIVER>/drillodbc/lib/64/libmaprdrillodbc64.so
    ConnectionType=Direct
    HOST=<MAP_R_Drill_SERVER_OR_IP_ADDRESS>
    PORT=<PORT_MAP_R_DRILL_IS_RUNNING_ON>
    ZKQuorum=
    ZKClusterID=
    AuthenticationType=No Authentication
    UID=
    PWD=
    AdvancedProperties=CastAnyToVarchar=true;HandshakeTimeout=5;QueryTimeout=180;TimestampTZDisplayTimezone=utc;ExcludedSchemas=sys,INFORMATION_SCHEMA;NumberOfPrefetchBuffers=5;
    Catalog=DRILL
    Schema=

  4. In the odbc.ini file, add the following entry to the ODBC Data Sources section header as shown below:

    [ODBC Data Sources]
    MapR_Drill=MapR Drill ODBC Driver 64-bit

  5. Edit the ODBC.sh file which is located in the /env folder in the home directory of the Strategy installation. Add the following section for MapR Drill being sure to replace the sections marked with <> (in bold) based on the environment.

    MAPRDRILL_PATH=<FULL_PATH_TO_MAP_R_DRILL_DRIVER>
    MAPRDRILLINI=<FULL_PATH_TO_MAP_R_DRILL_INI>
    export MAPRDRILLINI

    if [ "${MAPRDRILL_PATH}" != '<MAPRDRILL_PATH>' ]; then
     	export MAPRDRILL_PATH

     	mstr_append_path LD_LIBRARY_PATH "${MAPRDRILL_PATH:?}"
     	export LD_LIBRARY_PATH

    fi

    An example ODBC.sh entry has been provided below:

    MAPRDRILL_PATH=/opt/mapr/drillodbc/lib/64
    MAPRDRILLINI=/opt/mapr/drillodbc/Setup/mapr.drillodbc.ini
    export MAPRDRILLINI

    if [ "${MAPRDRILL_PATH}" != '<MAPRDRILL_PATH>' ]; then
     	export MAPRDRILL_PATH

     	mstr_append_path LD_LIBRARY_PATH "${MAPRDRILL_PATH:?}"
     	export LD_LIBRARY_PATH

    fi

  6. Edit the mapr.drillodbc.ini file(located in the installation directory for the MapR Drill ODBC Driver)  and specify the DriverManagerEncoding to be UTF-8 as shown below:

    [Driver]
    DriverManagerEncoding=UTF-8

  7. Lastly, make sure that the mapr.drillodbc.ini file is configured for ODBCInstLib to use the SimbaDM/UnixODBC driver manager by uncommenting the bolded line below and making sure other options are commented out(with #):

    #   SimbaDM / unixODBC
    ODBCInstLib=libodbcinst.so
