This KB describes an issue seen where only the first letter for string attribute elements is displayed in Enterprise Manager reports.

SYMPTOM:
In Enterprise Manager reports only first letter for string attribute elements is displayed. The issue exists when using MySQL or Sybase database as EM project database and Intelligence Server is on a Linux OS. Both Strategy Desktop and Web are affected.

CAUSE:
The character encoding of the Database Connection is set to UTF-8 but should be to Non UTF-8.
 
ACTION:
To fix the issue follow the steps below:

  1. Open the Database Instance and modify the Database Connection.
  2. Go to the Advanced tab and modify the character set encoding for Unix drivers to Non UTF-8:
