KB273783: Deleting an object in a project in metadata defined in MySQL Community 5.6 is slow in MicroStrategy 9.4.1 HF5

Deleting an object in a project in metadata defined in MySQL Community 5.6 is slow in MicroStrategy 9.4.1 HF5

SYMPTOM:
Deleting objects in Strategy 9.4.1 HF 5 Developer or Web takes a substantial amount of time longer (about 2 minutes for a simple object deletion). Even though the configuration is supported as confirmed in KB231092, the behavior persists.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. Create an table space in empty MySQL Community database
  2. Createe a DSN using Strategy Connectivity Wizard that utilizes the MySQL ODBC Driver 5.2.5
  3. Connect to the database created at step 1 and configure metadata tables through Configuration Wizard using Strategy 9.4.1
  4. Duplicate Tutorial Project into the metadata in MySQL Community Database defined in step 3.
  5. Login to the project via either Developer or Web, and create a simple report
  6. Attempt to delete the report and notice that this process takes much longer compared to the same operation performed with metadata in other database configurations

CAUSE:
This is a known limitation with Strategy Architect 9.4.1.
ACTION:
Upgrade to 10.1 or newer and utilize the supported configuration. For 10.1, refer to KB256569. For the latest version available, refer to KB258578.
