KB275145: How to capture localhost TCP traffic on a Microsoft Windows Server when troubleshooting issues with MicroStrategy Web 9.x - 10.x

Using RawCap for when Wireshark log is not captured because Windows operating systems route localhost traffic in a way that Wireshark cannot capture it

SYMPTOM:
Wireshark is an open-source packet analyzer used for network troubleshooting and analysis. In some cases, it is necessary to analyze and capture the communication between a Web server and a Strategy Intelligence Server to troubleshoot network issues that may affect the behavior or performance of Strategy Web 9.x - 10.x.  If both servers are on the same Microsoft Windows machine, the interaction between the servers will not be captured in the Wireshark log because Windows operating systems route localhost traffic in a way that Wireshark cannot capture it.

ACTION:
To properly capture localhost traffic on a Windows server, it is necessary to use a tool such as c, which is specially made to capture Windows localhost traffic. Download RawCap here.
To run RawCap, download the .exe and run the program from a command line. Per the note on the website itself, the command line used must be run as an administrator. The format to use for standard RawCap captures is:

RawCap.exe 127.0.0.1 C:\temp\capture.pcap

This will capture all localhost communication until the program is stopped and write the communications to a file called "capture.pcap" in the C:\temp folder.
For further commands for RawCap, visit the website linked above.
