This Knowledge Base article describes a known issue that document Flash caches are not deleted in MicroStrategy Command Manager. This issue has been addressed in MicroStrategy Command Manager. Upgrade to this release to take advantage of the fix.

SUMMARY:
The issue described in this document has been classified as a defect by Strategy.  When users run a script in Command Manager 10.x to invalidate report caches, document Flash caches are not deleted.  This issue has been addressed in Strategy Command Manager 10.3. Upgrade to this release to take advantage of the fix.
 
DESCRIPTION / SYMPTOM:
When users run the following script in Strategy Command Manager 10.x, they will notice that document Flash caches for documents based on the report are not deleted.


INVALIDATE REPORT CACHE "Report_Name" IN PROJECT “Project_Name";

 
 However, document caches in other formats, such as XML, will be deleted.  Prior to Strategy 10.x, all document cache formats for documents based on the report were deleted.
 
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  • In Strategy Tutorial, run the document “Category Performance Dashboard” located in Shared Reports --> Documents and Scorecards. Run the document in Flash mode to generate a Flash cache for the document.
     
  • In the document cache monitor in Developer, notice the different format caches generated for the document.

  • In Command Manager, run a Command Manager script to invalidate caches for report “Category Measures” which is used as a dataset for the “Category Performance Dashboard” document.

  • In the document cache monitor in Developer, notice the Flash document caches have not been deleted.

CAUSE:
This is an identified defect in Strategy Command Manager 10.x when running a script to invalidate report caches.
 
ACTION:
This issue has been addressed in Strategy Command Manager 10.3. Upgrade to this release to take advantage of the fix.
