KB279934: Updating an attribute element in a grid causes all the grid fields with the same value to change in MicroStrategy Web 10.1 Hotfix 1 and above.

SYMPTOM:
Configure transaction and transaction condition on a document grid in Strategy Web. If users change an attribute element, all the other grid fields having the same element value get updated automatically, although "Automatically recalculate values after data change" is disabled in Configure Transaction.

 
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

1. Create a transaction report using update SQL statement.
2. Insert a grid to the report services document and configure transaction for the grid.
3. Configure Transaction Condition for the grid.
4. Execute the report service document in Presentation mode and edit an attribute element. All the grid fields having the same value get updated automatically before clicking Submit, although "Automatically recalculate values after data change" is disabled in Configure Transaction.
    

CAUSE:
This is not a product defect as when transaction condition is configured on the grid, auto-refresh needs to be triggered to ensure if the condition is met.
 
ACTION:
Disable "Automatically recalculate values after data change" in Configure Transaction, and remove all transaction conditions for the grid.
