KB286972: Project duplication failed when duplicating project related configuration objects in MicroStrategy Developer 10.x

Project duplication failed when duplicating project related configuration objects in MicroStrategy Developer 10.x

SUMMARY:
This document shows one known issue that project duplication would fail when duplicating project related configuration objects if there is one database instance (DBI) without database connection in Strategy Developer 10.x. This is a known issue in Strategy 10.x. One workaround is to check each DBI and make sure all DBI including system DBI have database connection.

SYMPTOM:
Project duplication failed when duplicating project related configuration objects in Strategy Developer 10.x as shown below:

ka02R000000kbJSQAY_0EM440000002C2O.jpeg

Duplication might fail right after property transfer completed if no users were duplicated or after user objects load/save finished if all users or project related users were selected to be duplicated. This issue will not occur if choosing to duplicate all configuration objects in duplication wizard.

CAUSE:
One possible cause is at least either one user-designed database Instance (DBI) or system DBI (which is not visible in Developer) has no database connection specified. This is a known issue in Strategy Developer 10.x.

ACTION:
This issue has been fix confirmed in Strategy Developer 10.4.  Please upgrade to this version to take advantage of the fix.

WORKAROUND:
Manually check each DBI in Strategy Developer to see if it has database connection. If all user-defined DBI have database connection, contact Strategy Technical Support for assistance on checking if any system DBI has no database connection.

The Strategy Internal Reference Number for the issue discussed in this technical note is  DE23628.
