Reports with a high number of rows or columns cause Internet Explorer to hang when executed using MicroStrategy Web 10.2

SUMMARY
After upgrading to Strategy 10.2, reports with a high number of rows or columns that were running properly in Strategy 9.4.x cause Internet Explorer to consume significantly more memory and may lead to the browser process to hang when using Strategy 10.2.

CAUSE
Client side performance issues can have a variety of root causes. In this particular case there is a known issue in Strategy 10.2 caused by javascript that leads to very high memory consumption of the browser process which may lead to a hang for several minutes.

ACTION
This issue has been addressed with Strategy 10.3. Upgrade to take advantage of the fix.

WORKAROUND
Changing below value to 0 in sys_definitions.xml file for 10.2 (The sys_definitions.xml file is located under [WEB DEPLOYMENT FOLDER]/WEB-INF/xml):

<pr des="Show Previews" n="showPreviews" v="0" dt="boolean" />

NOTE: This will disable the screenshot of document/report in Recent feature.
