This document explains how to run a MicroStrategy Command Manager procedure file on a Linux machine without any graphical user interface (GUI).

SUMMARY:
This document explains how to run a Strategy Command Manager procedure file on a Linux machine without any graphical user interface (GUI).

To run a Command Manager procedure on a Linux machine:

  • The Command Manager procedure file (.cmp file) must be created ahead of time on a machine with a GUI by using the Command Manager Procedure window.  Command Manager procedure files contain additional metadata information that is not visible in the Procedure window but is required for the procedure to run.  If the procedure file is not created using the Procedure window, the file may be missing this information and may not execute correctly.

  • Place the Command Manager procedure file in the specified procedure directory.  This location will vary depending on where Strategy is installed and can be found in the MSIReg.reg file under the setting [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Strategy\Strategy Command Manager\Options\GeneralTab] and then CustomProceduresPath.

  • Run the "EXECUTE PROCEDURE" outline from the Command Manager command-line mode. For more information regarding command-line mode of Command Manager, refer to the System Administration Guide > Automating Administrative tasks with Command Manager > Using Command Manager from the command line section from the Product Manuals.
