After installing MicroStrategy Operations Manager 10.x, when the user attempts to launch the page, a blank screen with no additional information appears,

SYMPTOM:
After installing Strategy Operations Manager 10.x, when the user attempts to launch the page, a blank screen with no additional information appears, as shown below:

ka04W000000OfuZQAS_0EM4400000025VE.jpeg

Additionally, the following error message appears in the Operations Manager logs:

<record reset="true">
  <package>com.Strategy.web.controller</package>
  <level>SEVERE</level>
  <miliseconds>1464106678970</miliseconds>
  <timestamp>05/24/2016 17:17:58:978</timestamp>
  <thread>0</thread>
  <class>GenericWebAppController</class>
  <method>processRequest</method>
  <message>Could not find the corresponding error page in the pageconfig-xml configuration file.</message>
  <exception>com.Strategy.web.app.WebAppException: The license to run Strategy Web on this server is not valid or cannot be found. Please ensure you have a valid license before using Strategy Web.
	at com.Strategy.web.controller.GenericWebAppController.checkLicenses(Unknown Source)
	at com.Strategy.web.controller.GenericWebAppController.processRequest(Unknown Source)
	at com.Strategy.web.controller.GenericWebAppController.processRequest(Unknown Source)
</exception>
</record>

CAUSE:
This is a limitaiton of Strategy Operations Manager 10.x, where it does not install the necessary files to be able to read the user's license information. In the scenario where Strategy Operations Manager 10.x is installed by itself in a server machine, it will be unable to determine if the Strategy license key has been applied correctly and will not allow to display the page.

ACTION:
Install Strategy Web 10.x on the same server machine which has Strategy Operations Manager 10.x installed. This allows Strategy Operations Manager to default to Strategy Web to read the licensing information. This installation of Strategy Web does not have to be the one accessible to the Strategy Web users.

WORKAROUND:
If the purpose of installing Strategy Operations Manager 10.x is only to use Strategy Enterprise Manager 10.x, refer to tech note KB273206, for more information on how to use Strategy Command Manager 10.x to circumvent the usage of Strategy Operations Manager 10.x altogether.

The Strategy Internal Reference Number for the issue discussed in this technical note is DE21302.
