The following code sample will add an attribute to an existing Intelligent Cube (without publishing the cube) using Intelligence Server SDK 10.3.

          'Declaration of variables
          Dim objServer As New DSSDataSource
          Dim objProjectList As DSSDataSourceEnumerator
          Dim objDataSource As DSSDataSource
          Dim mySession As IDSSSession
          Dim text As String

          Dim myCube As IDSSReportDefinition10
          Dim CubeID As String
          Dim oObjSource As IDSSSource

          ' Connecting to the Intelligence Server
          objServer.Type = EnumDSSDataSourceType.DssDataSourceTypeServer
          objServer.Mode = EnumDSSConnectionMode.DssConnectionModeServerAccess
          objServer.Location = "INTELLIGENCE SERVER"
          objServer.Port = PORT#
          objServer.AuthMode = DssAuthStandard
          objServer.login = "USERNAME"
          objServer.Passwd = "PASSWORD"
          objServer.Init

          ' Connecting to a Project
          Set objProjectList = objServer.Enumerator
          Set objDataSource = objProjectList.ItemByProjectName("PROJECT NAME")
          objDataSource.Init

          ' Creating a Session
          Set mySession = objDataSource.CreateSession

          ' Outputting session to text variable
          ' text = text & "Configuration ID: " & mySession.DataSource.ConfigurationID & vbCrLf

          ' Outputting project information to text variable
          ' text = text & "Project ID: " & mySession.DataSource.ProjectId & vbCrLf

          CubeID = "CUBE GUID" 'Cube (Intelligent Cube)

          ' Retrieve Cube Object
          Set oObjSource = mySession.Component(DssRoleObjectSource)
          Set myCube = oObjSource.FindObject(CubeID, DssTypeReportDefinition)
          'text = text & "Cube Info: " & myCube.Info.Name & vbCrLf

          ' Modify the name of the cube (if desired)
          myCube.Info.Name = "Edited Cube"

          ' Retrieve attribute object
          Dim myAttribute As IDSSAttribute
          Dim attrID As String
          attrID = "ATTR GUID"
          Set myAttribute = oObjSource.FindObject(attrID, DssTypeAttribute)
          'text = text & "Attribute Name: " & myAttribute.Info.Name & vbCrLf

          ' Add attribute to the cube template
          Dim MyTemplateUnit As IDSSTemplateUnit
          Set MyTemplateUnit = myCube.Template.Rows.Add(DssTemplateAttribute)
          Set MyTemplateUnit.Special = myAttribute

          ' Save cube object (not publishing the cube)
          Call oObjSource.SaveObject(myCube.Info)

          ' Final output of text to textbox
          Text1.text = text
          mySession.Close
