Latitude and longitude forms are still displayed on a grid by default even though the forms were not set as the display form for the multi-form attribute during data import (MicroStrategy Web 10.3 and MicroStrategy Analytics Desktop 10.3)

Jaime Perez

Vice President, Product Owner • MicroStrategy

Description

Latitude and longitude forms are still displayed on grid by default. However, on the Create Multiform Attribute page, the forms are not set as the display form for Strategy Web 10.3 and Strategy Analytics Desktop 10.3. The grid seems to be overriding the display forms selected for the multi-form attribute.

Steps to reproduce

Follow below steps to reproduce the issue with the latitude and longitude forms:

  1. Import an Excel file with 4 columns: ID, Name, Latitude, Longitude. See the Sample Data below.
  2. In the Data Preparation page, choose the above 4 columns and choose to create a Multiform Attribute.
  3. Set Name as the only display form. Uncheck all of the other columns.

  1. Create a dashboard and place the new attribute in grid.

Note that both the latitude and longitude forms are displayed in grid automatically.

However, the forms were not set as the display forms for the grid when creating the attribute.

Why is this happening?

This is a known issue with Strategy Web 10.3 and Strategy Analytics Desktop 10.3.
Our engineer team is working to enhance the overall Strategy experience.

Solution

The issue is fixed in Strategy Web 10.4. Please upgrade to take advantage of the fix.
In the meantime, users can follow these next steps:

  1. After Step 3 above, go to the Data Preview page.
  2. Right-click on the new attribute and choose to Edit Multiform Attribute.

  1. Once in the editor, the below page is displayed, showing that no display form has been set:

  1. Do not modify anything in the editor > Click on Submit.
  2. Proceed to create the dashboard. The result is as expected below:
