KB300896: Error 'Cannot convert cell value "#" using date format "DD.MM.YYYY" from String datatype to Date/Time datatype' is received when running a report against a SAP BW cube in MicroStrategy Analytics Developer 10.3

SYMPTOM:
On Strategy Analytics Developer 10.3, when run a report against a SAP BW cube, and the report includes an attribute whose key form is changed from varchar to date data type,the error message is received, as showed below.

"QueryEngine encountered error: Cannot convert type for attribute : "YF CharA" attribute form : "Key". 
Conversion from current column datatype "DssDataTypeVarChar" to user specified column datatype "DssDataTypeDate" unsuccessful. 
Cannot convert cell value "#" using date format "DD.MM.YYYY" from String datatype to Date/Time datatype.Conversion failed. Types can not be converted. ." 

1. In a SAP BW cube, create a characteristic with Date data type;
2. Insert a Null record and other records into this characteristic;
3. Import the cube through MDX cube catalog;
4. Follow KB14716 to change the Key form of Date attribute from Varchar to Date;
5. Create a report with this attribute and any other attributes, error is received;
6. Add a report filter to remove the null date value, the report can be run successfully.

CAUSE:
This is a known issue in Strategy Developer 10.3.
ACTION:
This issue has been fixed in Strategy 10.4 HF1.
