The MicroStrategy Office toolbar does not appear in one or more Microsoft Office products after upgrading to a newer version of MicroStrategy Office.

SYMPTOM:
After upgrading to a newer version of Strategy Office, users may find that the Strategy Office toolbar does not appear in Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint, or Word.

CAUSE:
A possible cause of this issue is that the Strategy Office Add-In is referencing an older version of Strategy Office.

ACTION:

  • Go to Microsoft Office > Options > Add-Ins, and remove the existing Strategy Add-In

  • Add the Strategy Add-in again by pointing to the directory where the moimnshm.dll file is located.  By default it is located in C:\Program Files\MicroStrategy\Office\moimnshm.dll in a Windows client machine.
  • Save and exit Microsoft Office, and go to Strategy office configuration.  Under General options, re-check the checkboxes to Load in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
