History List Content Service initialization failed. Please check whether the History List database and its tables are set up properly.

The following message is also logged in the DSSErrors logs:

MsiUserInBox::PopulateFromDB(): content service is not initialized correctly

CAUSE:
The above error occurs when the Intelligence Server cannot connect to the History List Content Server. To ensure the History List Content Server is up and running, the users can go to the Intelligence Server Configuration ->History Settings and check whether there is a green check or a red X next to the Database Based instance. In this case the user sees a red X because the connection to the History List Content Server could not be established.

ACTION:
Ensure the Database Instance and the DSN used to connect to the History List Content Server is set up correctly. Also, ensure that the required History List tables were created previously on this database using the Strategy Configuration Wizard. After making any changes to the DSN or the Database Instance, restart the Intelligence Server for the changes to take affect.
