SUMMARY:
It is possible to determine whether or not the "Enable Web request job throttling" option is enabled, as well as what the values for "Maximum Intelligence Server use of total memory (%)" and 'Minimum machine free physical memory (%)" are set to, directly from the DSSErrors log file:
- In the DSSErrors.log file, search for the following phrase:
Sample Code/Error
PrintServerDef: Memory throttling
-
If no result is returned, then search the DSSErrors.log.bak file for the phrase. If either log does not include the phrase, then the Strategy Intelligence Server has not been restarted since the backup log's earliest recorded time. The only other way to have the information outputted into the log file is to either restart the Strategy Intelligence Server Universal or opening the Strategy Intelligence Server Configuration editor in Strategy Desktop.
- If the "Enable Web request job throttling" option is disabled, then the values for "Private Bytes (%)", "Virtual Bytes (%)", and "Avail Phys Mem (%)" will all be reported as -1:
Sample Code/Error
PrintServerDef: Memory throttling: Private Bytes (%) = -1, Virtual Bytes (%) = -1, Avail Phys Mem (%) = -1
- Any other combination of values for these settings implies that "Enable Web request job throttling" is enabled. Furthermore, the value for "Maximum Intelligence Server use of total memory (%)" is the value reported as "Private Bytes (%)". The value for "Minimum machine free physical memory (%)" is reported as the "Avail Phys Mem (%)" setting:
Sample Code/Error
PrintServerDef: Memory throttling: Private Bytes (%) = 50, Virtual Bytes (%) = 99, Avail Phys Mem (%) = 0
-
Note: The "Virtual Bytes (%)" value is used in the computation of maximum virtual address space available for the Strategy Intelligence Server process, and cannot be configured.
