KB303922: Reports using count distinct metrics have severe performance degradation after upgrading from MicroStrategy 9.4.1 to MicroStrategy Secure Enterprise 10.1 - 10.2

SUMMARY
This issue has been classified as a defect by Strategy. The impact is limited to Strategy Secure Enterprise 10.1 - 10.2 reports using count distinct metrics. A code fix for this issue is available in Strategy Secure Enterprise 10.3.
 
SYMPTOM
After upgrading from Strategy 9.4.1 to Strategy Secure Enterprise 10.1/10.2, Intelligent cube based reports (view reports)  that used to take a few seconds now take a long time to run or do not complete at all. This issue can also affect regular reports which contain subtotals or dynamic aggregation functions using distinct count. 
 
The affected reports have below characteristics:

1. Have metrics that use count distinct (attribute)
2. The attribute being counted has a high cardinality

 
CAUSE
This is a known issue in Strategy Secure Enterprise 10.1 - 10.2.
 
ACTION
This issue has been fixed in Strategy Secure Enterprise 10.3. Upgrade to this version to take advantage of the fix.
