KB30473: How to have the display option of "Show only the individual items within this element" for a Custom Group not show the custom group element name in MicroStrategy Developer 9.4.1 and 10.x.

SYMPTOM:
When using a Custom Group, the second display option states "Show only the individual items within this element", but in a report the custom group element name is also displayed in Strategy Developer 9.4.1 and 10.x. when this option has been selected.
 
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
Execute the following in Strategy Tutorial: 

1. Create a Custom Group using the Region attribute for a new custom group element.  Select Central and Mid-West as the elements.  Rename the Custom Group Element as Region.
2. Do a right mouse click on the Region element and select 'Display Options'.  In the Display Options editor, select the option "Show only the individual items within this element".  Click on OK, Save and Close the Custom Group and add it to a report.

• When the report is executed, the element name Region is displayed, along with the individual items in it (Mid-Atlantic, and Central), while the option to display only the individual items within the element was selected.

 
ACTION:
In order to display only the individual items of the element, in the Custom Group editor, on the tool bar,  click on Custom Group -> Options and in the 'Options' window which opens, uncheck the box for 'Enable Hierarchical Display'.  Click save and close the Custom Group.
 

 
 
When the report is now executed, only the individual items within the Custom Group element are displayed, as shown below:
