KB305155: Duplicate columns with identical names are created after creating a copy of an attribute in MicroStrategy Developer 10.x

SUMMARY:
The issue described in this document has been classified as a defect by Strategy.  The issue occurs in Strategy Developer 10.x.  This issue is addressed in Strategy Developer 10.4 HotFix 3 and above.  Strategy Technical Support can assist with merging these duplicate column that already exist in the metadata.
 
DESCRIPTION:
In Strategy Developer 10.x, duplicate columns with identical names are created after creating a copy of an attribute.
 
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

• In Strategy Tutorial, right-click on the Year attribute and choose "Copy".
  

• Right-click to paste the copy of the Year attribute.
  

• In the System Objects > Columns folder, users will notice columns with identical names for each of the columns used by the Year attribute.  In the screenshot below, there are duplicate columns named YEAR_DATE and YEAR_ID.
  

 
CAUSE:
This is an identified defect in Strategy Developer 10.x.
 
ACTION:
This issue is addressed in Strategy Developer 10.4 HotFix 3 and above.  If duplicate columns with identical names already exist in the metadata, contact Strategy Technical support for assistance with merging the duplicate columns.
