KB305281: More prompts appear when executing the same document in MicroStrategy 10.x after upgrade compared with 9.4.1 and lower

Stefan Zepeda

Salesforce Solutions Architect • Strategy

This document shows one known issue that more prompts are seen in MicroStrategy 10.x compared with 9.4.1 and lower when executing a document. This is caused by some invalid references in document definition.

SUMMARY:
This document shows one known issue that more prompts are seen in Strategy 10.x compared with 9.4.1 and lower when executing a document. This is caused by some invalid references in document definition. Contact Strategy Technical Support for the latest update on this issue and how to remove these invalid references.

SYMPTOM:
After upgrade to 10.x, users may see more prompts when executing the same document compared with 9.4.1 and lower.

CAUSE:
This is a known issue in Strategy 10.x. The document has some invalid references to some conditional metrics which have some filter with prompts as condition. Such invalid references were not introduced by MD upgrade or operations in 10.x but had been already existed since 9.4.1 and lower. However, it's not clear how these invalid references were created in 9.4.1 and lower. When the document is executed in 9.4.1 and lower, prompts of these conditional metrics are not loaded and thus users will not see these prompts. However, when the document is executed in 10.x, these prompts will be loaded and shown to users.

ACTION:
Contact Strategy Technical Support for the latest update of this issue.

WORKAROUND:
Contact Strategy Technical Support to remove these invalid references from document definition.

The Strategy Internal Reference Number for the issue discussed in this technical note is DE21904.
