KB309443: Custom Group Cannot Filter Other Visualizations in Visual Insight Dashboard in MicroStrategy Web 10.4 - 11.0

Visualizations can be filtered by other visualization in Visual Insight Dashboards.

Starting with the release of Strategy ONE (March 2024), dossiers are also known as dashboards.
SYMPTOM:
Visualizations can be filtered by other visualization in Visual Insight Dashboards. It can be done by setting the source visualization as “Use as Filter”. However, a custom group cannot be used to filter other visualizations in Visual Insight Dashboard in Strategy Web 10.4 through 11.0

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1) Create a report with at least 2 attributes and 1 metric
2) Create a custom group based on one of the attributes in the report
3) Create a VI or Dossier using the dataset created in the last step
4) Add two visualizations: one using the custom group and the other with the left attributes and metric
5) Enable “Use as filter” for the custom group visualization and target the other visualization
6) Select any elements of the custom group and there are no changes to the target visualization

CAUSE:
Currently, this is not in the roadmap as of now. Instead, there are plans to enhance new Derived Elements (also called 'Group') in VI and Dossier, so that functional parity is increased in comparison with old Derived Elements, Consolidations, and Custom Groups. New Derived Elements offer a new architecture which precisely doesn't have the limitation that old DE, CG, and Consolidations had.
