KB31088: When a stacked bar graph is viewed in a dashboard, tooltips on the graph display a sum of the metric values that compose the bar, rather than displaying the value of the end metric in MicroStrategy Web

SYMPTOM:
When a stacked bar graph is viewed in a Dashboard, tooltips on the graph display a sum of the metric values that compose the bar, rather than displaying the value of the end metric in Strategy Web.
 
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

• Create a stacked bar graph report with the Year attribute and Cost and Profit metrics.
  

• Create a dashboard based on the report.
• Mouse over to the edge of the bar to see tooltip and confirm the amount of Cost is $7,343,097, while the amount of Profit is $8,647,238, which means the value of Profit is actually a sum of Cost and Profit.  The correct display would be the value of Profit only, since the metrics are different.
  

CAUSE: 
This issue is working as designed. By default, "Cumulative values" is selected at the Preference of Graph Options, which cannot be changed through Web.
 
ACTION: 
Using Developer, execute the dataset as a graph report, then, go to Graph > Graph Options > Series > Labels And Values > "Absolute Values."  Change the Data Values option to "Absolute Values":
