INTRODUCTION
A firewall is part of a computer system or network that is designed to block unauthorized access while permitting authorized communications.
Port number is how a process identifies itself on the server on which it is running.
HOW TO ENABLE COMMUNICATION THROUGH A FIREWALL
- Client Web browsers communicate with Strategy Web on port 80 (HTTP). If there is a firewall between the client and the Strategy Web Server, port 80 must be allowed to send and receive requests through the firewall.
- Strategy Web products can communicate with Strategy Intelligence Server using any port that is greater than 1024. By default, the port used is 34952. If there is a firewall between the Intelligence Server and the Web Server, port 34952 must be allowed to send and receive TCP/IP requests through the firewall.
Note: This port number is configurable but must match on both sides. Therefore, it must be changed on Strategy Web server as well as Strategy Intelligence Server. Consequently in Strategy Desktop it must be changed for all the project sources that connect to this Intelligence Server.
In Strategy Web under Connection Properties for the Intelligence Server, the default port value is 0 as seen below. This means that it will use the default port number 34952 on the Intelligence Server side:
