KB312012: Information window disappears when scrolling through drop-down selector list with mouse scroll wheel in MicroStrategy Web 10.x

SYMPTOM:
In Strategy Web, information windows can be used to show additional information or objects when clicking on other objects. Selectors are one the objects that can also be used in information windows.  In Strategy Web 10.x when scrolling through a list of elements in a drop-down selector located within an information window with a mouse scroll wheel, the information window disappears while the list or elements remains. The screenshots below show this behavior. Note that this issue occurs in all web browsers.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
 

• Create a report with the attributes Customer Region and Brand and the metrics Profit and Revenue.
• Create a document with the report from Step 1.
• Insert a panel stack into the document containing a drop-down selector for Brand.
• Right-click on the Customer Region header and choose Use as Selector.
• Right-click again on the Customer Region head and choose Edit Selector.
• In the Configure Selector window, make sure the panel stack is selected as a target and the panel stack is selected in the Information Windows section.                                                                                                                              

• Click OK.
• Run the document in Presentation mode.
• Click on Northeast under Customer Region and notice the information window appears.
• Click the drop-down selector to show the list of elements.
• Use the mouse scroll wheel to scroll through the list of elements.
• Notice the information window disappears and only the drop-down field is visible.

 
CAUSE:
This is an identified defect in Strategy Web 10.x.
ACTION:
This issue has been addressed in Strategy Version 10.7 and 10.4 HF5. Please upgrade to take advantage of the fix.
WORKAROUND:
Manually use the scroll bar in the drop-down list as seen in the image below. Both the list of elements and the information window remain when manually dragging the scroll bar. The information window only disappears when scrolling through the list of elements with the mouse scroll wheel.
