Question:
What is the difference between Derived Metrics Percent to Total (Over Rows) and Percent to Total (Grand Total)?
Answer:
Percent to Total (Over Rows) has a level based on the attribute on the column, while Percent to Total (Grand Total ) has no level. So when there is some attribute on the column in the report, they may return different values. User can right click the metrics to see their definitions and check the difference.
Follow below steps in Strategy Tutorial to see the difference between both metrics:
Percent to Total (Over Rows) definition:
There is a level on country to Revenue.
Percent to Total (Grand Total) definition:
There is no level to Revenue.
2006 & USA: Since there is no level to Revenue, will divide Grand Total value of all years and all countries, which is $35,023,708. Then it is $8,175,762/$35,023,708 = 23.34%.
