KB31311: How to import a PDF file to be sent using MicroStrategy Narrowcast Server 9.x - 10.x?

The following procedure explains how to deliver an external PDF document using Strategy Narrowcast Server 9.x - 10.x: 

• In Strategy Narrowcast Administrator, create a new imported file by right-clicking and selecting New > Imported File:
  
  

• Give the file a name, set the File Type to 'PDF Imported File' and browse to the location of the PDF file as shown:
  
  

• Save the imported file.
  
• Create a new document by right-clicking within Strategy Narrowcast Administrator and selecting New > Document:
  
  

• Select 'Create a new Narrowcast Server document > Imported Document':
  
  

• Choose 'Use an existing imported file' and browse to the imported file as shown:
  
  

• Save the document.
  
• This document can now be used when setting up a service in Strategy Narrowcast Server, as shown below:
  
  

 
Note: If the external PDF file which was imported is regularly updated, the following Strategy Command Manager outline can be used to refresh the imported file:
 
REFRESH IMPORTEDFILE "<imported file name" IN FOLDER "<location where imported file is stored";
