KB31364: Users receive the message “Cannot proceed with the current configuration. Please wait until the Intelligence Server is ready to be used.” when attempting to configure a MicroStrategy Intelligence Server via the Configuration Wizard

This document explains an error that can be possibly seen on configuration wizard when configuring the MicroStrategy Intelligence Server

SYMPTOM
When finishing the 'Set up Strategy Intelligence Server" option of the Strategy Configuration Wizard, users receive error message:


Error occurs while stopping the server instance: Cannot proceed with the current configuration. Please wait until the Intelligence Server is ready to be used

CAUSE
This is an informational message that is informing the user that the Strategy Intelligence Server service could not be stopped when trying to restart the Intelligence Server. The most common cause is that the Configuration Wizard attempted to stop the Strategy Intelligence Server which was already in the process of stopping (i.e., the command to stop the service was initiated manually by mstrctl).

The Strategy Intelligence Server service status can be verified on a Windows machine via the Windows Services menu, as shown below:

On a Unix / Linux machines, the following may be executed via the command line to obtain the status:

$ mstrctl -s IntelligenceServer gs

After the Strategy Intelligence Server service has stopped, the user can continue with the configuration via the Configuration Wizard.
