KB31611: How to avoid that Everyone and Public/Guest Group Read privileges are added to the access control list of the home folders of newly created users in MicroStrategy 9.x - 10.x

SYMPTOM:
When new users are being created in Strategy 9.x and 10.x their home folders inherit read permissions from the  project "Profiles” folder, which includes “Everyone” and “Public / Guest”.

The behavior was different in earlier versions of Strategy, where although the “Profiles” folder did have both “Everyone” and “Public/Guest” in its Access Control List , they were not automatically inherited by new user's home folders.
This could be an undesired behavior if the Administrator wished to create a new user's home folders without having the Everyone and Public/Guest group having read access to them.

 CAUSE:
This is as designed, the behavior has been changed in version 9.

 WORKAROUND:
If the Administrator wishes not to inherit read access for Everyone and Guest on the home folder of newly created users, they should remove the mentioned group from the project profile folder Access Control list. The following pictures show the properties of the Tutorial "Profiles" folder showing only Administrator in its access control list:
