KB31614: How to pass text Value Filter answers through Report Links in MicroStrategy 9.x

SYMPTMOM:
A user would like to pass a text answer to a Value Prompt through Report Links in Strategy 9.x
 
ACTION:
These steps assume working in the Strategy Tutorial Project

• Create a value prompt that qualifies on text.
• Create a filter that qualifies on Region DESC and in the value box place a shortcut to the prompt. Save this as F1
   
  

• Create a source report with Region, Revenue and a shortcut to the filter F1
   
  

• Save and Close the report and retain the shortcut
   
  

• Create a destination report with Region, Cost and a shortcut to the filter F1. Save and Close the report and retain the shortcut as before.
• Right Mouse Click on the metric in the source report and select "Edit Links"
• Define the link to point to the destination report and for the text prompt select "Answer With Same Prompt"
