KB31739: When the view filter is empty for a report, the "Filter on Selections" option will place the element into the report filter instead in MicroStrategy Web

SYMPTOM:
When the view filter is empty for a report, the 'filter on selections' will place the element into a report filter. However, if the view filter has an existing condition, the same option will place the element into the view filter of the report.
 
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

• In Strategy Tutorial, create a report with the Call Center attribute and Profit metric
• Execute the report in Web.
• Right click on any one of the call centers and select the option 'filter on selections'
   
   

• Notice that the element been placed in the Report Filter section
   
  

• Re-create a report with Call Center attribute and Profit metric. In the view filter section, insert a condition (eg: Profit > 0)
   
  

• Execute the report in Interactive mode.
• Right click on any one of the call centers and select the option 'filter on selections'
• Observe the element been placed in the View Filter section this time.
    
  

CAUSE:
This is working as designed. 'Filter on selections' adds the condition to the view filter if the report is an OLAP report. However, an OLAP report shouldn't be converted to a standard report as a result of this manipulation, so it will add the condition to the report filter if the report is a standard report.
