This knowledge base article documents why "Failed to load control `msiObjectExplorer` from M3OBJEXP.OCX. Your version of M3OBJEXP.OCX may be outdated" error message appears when installing Microstrategy Developer 9.4.x-10.x.

SYMPTOM:
When a user tries to install Strategy Desktop 9.x,  the following error message appears:


Failed to load control `msiObjectExplorer` from M3OBJEXP.OCX. Your version of M3OBJEXP.OCX may be outdated

 
CAUSE:
A possible reason is that the file M3OBJEXP.OCX failed to install correctly and was not able to correctly register with the operating system.
 
ACTION:
Register the file using the instructions given in the following Strategy Knowledge Base Document below:
KB11873 - How to register and unregister .dll or .ocx (control) files using the RegSvr32 Windows utility.
