KB31789: Images inserted into the e-mail message body using the HTML editor for MicroStrategy Narrowcast Server 9.x services do not show up in the delivered e-mail

Community Admin

• Strategy

SYMPTOM:
The Strategy Narrowcast Administrator console allows the inserting of an image stored locally on the Strategy Narrowcast Server machine when using the HTML editor:

ka04W000000OgpoQAC_0EM440000002Aya.jpeg

ka04W000000OgpoQAC_0EM440000002AyS.jpeg

When the service is delivered, the image does not render in the delivered e-mail:

ka04W000000OgpoQAC_0EM440000002AyQ.jpeg

CAUSE:
The absolute local path to the image is hard-coded into the e-mail message. This can be confirmed by checking the source code of the e-mail message:

Sample Code/Error
<BODY><P><IMG border=3D0 hspace=3D0 alt=3D`` align=3Dbaseline
src=3D`C:\My Documents\My Pictures\pe=
rsonlization.JPG`>     </P></BODY>

This is a known issue with Strategy Narrowcast Server 9.x.

ACTION:
Contact Strategy Technical Support for an update on the status of this issue.

WORKAROUND:
Refer to TN: 12559 for how to use explicit importing to insert the image in the HTML message body of the e-mail:
