KB318011: After duplication of a project, Intelligent Cubes created in the new project are not saved to the custom-defined Intelligent Cube File Directory

This KB article describes how when duplicating a project the Inteligence cube folder location is changed as well as the code fix that was implemented to overt this issue.

SYMPTOMS:
After duplication of a project in Workstation that has a user-defined Intelligent Cube cache location, Intelligent Cubes created within the new project are not saved to the location specified in Intelligent Cube File Directory in Project Configuration. Although the directory filed shows the same location as the source project, cubes are saved to a default local directory.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. Set a custom Intelligent Cube File Directory in a project (Project A) by navigating to Project Configuration > Intelligent Cubes > General.
  2. Run a cube to test that it is saving properly in the specified location (e.g. that ACLs are correct, the folder path exists, etc.)
  3. Duplicate the Project A within the same Project Source via Project Duplication Wizard in Developer (using default settings) to create Project B.
  4. Once duplication is finished, check that Intelligent Cube File Directory for Project B is defined with the same path as in the Project A (source project).
  5. In Project B, create and run a new Intelligent Cube.
  6. Check the location of the new cube cache and notice that it is saved in the default location, i.e. in Strategy\Intelligence Server\Cube\<Server_Definition_Name>.

CAUSE:
This is working as designed. Currently, project duplication does not involve Intelligent Cube File Directory. An Enhancement Request for implementing this functionality is being reviewed for feasibility by Strategy.
ACTION:
This issue has been solved for version 2021 . Upgrade to this version to take advantage of this fix. If you encounter the same issue in version 2021 and it is not resolved by applying this documentation, please contact Customer Support.

WORAKROUND:
To ensure that Intelligent Cubes are saved as custom-defined in Intelligent Cube File Directory, Unload and Load projects on the Intelligence Server per steps outlined below:

  1. In Workstation, log in to the project source containing the project.
  2. Under that project source, expand Administration, then expand System Administration, and select Project.
  3. Right-click the project, point to Administer Project, and select Unload or Load.
