KB31814: In MicroStrategy Intelligence Server 9.x and 10.x, what is the significance of the message "MsiUserSession::IncrementProjectSessionCount: Admin user login to project 0. Do not increase Project-User level session count.." in DSSErrors logs.

Community Admin

• Strategy

A warning message is displayed in the DSSErrors logs informing that the project session count is not being incremented or decremented for the Administrator user.

SYMPTOM
In Strategy Intelligence Server 9.x and 10.x, warning messages similar to the following may be seen in the DSSErrors log:

2009-09-03 09:45:33.307+01:00
MsiUserSession::IncrementProjectSessionCount: Admin user login to project 5. Do not increase Project-User level session count

2009-09-03 09:45:33.310+01:00
MsiUserSession::LoginToProject: Admin user login to project 5. Do not increase Project level session count

2009-09-03 09:45:33.736+01:00
MsiUserSession::DecrementProjectSessionCount: Admin user logout from project 5. Do not decrease Project-User level session count

2009-09-03 09:45:33.742+01:00
MsiUserSession::hLogOutFromProject: Admin user logout from project 5. Do not decrease Project level session count

CAUSE
These warnings are seen in the logs when the Administrator user or other users belonging to the Strategy 'System Administrators' group connects or disconnects to a project from any source such as Desktop/Web/Enterprise Manager etc.

A governing limit exists on the project configuration for number of user sessions per project, under Governing > User Sessions. This governing limit is applied on all users except the administrator user or any user belonging to the system administrators group. Therefore this warning message is displayed in the DSSErrors logs informing that the project session count is not being incremented or decremented for the Administrator user.

ACTION
There is no action that needs to be taken as this is just a warning message indicating that the governing limit for user sessions per project is not being applied for the administrator user.
