KB319056: The button “Add as Grid” on the Show Data dialog is available even though “Web edit dashboard” privilege is revoked in MicroStrategy Visual Insight 10.x

   
SUMMARY:
This issue has been classified as a defect by Strategy. The impact is limited to Strategy Web 10.x Visual Insight where a user without “Web Edit dashboard” privilege is able to use “Add as Grid” option from Show Data dialog. There is no workaround for this issue. The issue is under investigation by Technology team.  
 
SYMPTOM:
In Strategy 10.x users without “Web Edit dashboard” privilege can modify the Visual Insight dashboard using "Add as Grid” option in Show Data dialog which is not expected. The image below shows the issue:

  
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

• In Strategy Tutorial, create a report with any attributes and metrics. Create a Visual Insight dashboard using the new created report as a dataset
• Create a grid with any objects on it and save the dashboard.
• Log in to Web as a user without “Web Edit dashboard” privilege and open “Show Data” dialog:

1. Notice that “Add as Grid” option appears thus the user can modify the dashboard by adding a grid.

 
CAUSE:
It appears to specifically affect Strategy 10.x and users without “Web Edit dashboard” privilege who can edit a Visual Insight dashboards using “Add as Grid” option from “Show Data” dialog window.
 
ACTION
Currently this issue is still being reviewed for feasibility by our Technology team and it is not scoped for any upcoming scheduled Strategy release
