KB31987: A Report Services document using two or more prompted reports based on Intelligent Cubes queries the data warehouse to generate element list prompts instead of reading from the Intelligent Cube in MicroStrategy 9.x

Stefan Zepeda

When two reports based on Intelligent Cubes are used in a Report Services document, attribute element list prompts hit the warehouse instead of using the available elements from the cube in MicroStrategy 9.x

SYMPTOM:
When two reports based on Intelligent Cubes are used in a Report Services document, attribute element list prompts hit the warehouse instead of using the available elements from the cube in Strategy 9.0.x

Executing the reports individually and creating a document with one single dataset causes the prompts to be loaded from the information stored in the Intelligent Cube.

CAUSE:
This is a known issue for Strategy Desktop 9.x. This issue occurs because the Intelligence Server receives a prompt execution request from the client specifying a prompt that comes from multiple sources (i.e. multiple datasets), whereas in reality the same prompt is used from one intelligent Cube source. As a result the Intelligence Server attempts to browse the element from the Warehouse source.

ACTION:
Strategy will continue to investigate and post updates as soon as they are available.
