SUMMARY
This article discusses an issue in Strategy Command Manager 10.2 where it required some files that are only installed by installing Enterprise Manager on the machine.  This issue no longer occurs in 10.4 and above.

SYMPTOM
When attempting to launch Command Manager in Strategy 10.2 on Linux, an error message is seen and Command Manager fails to open:

mstrcmdmgrw: ERROR: file '/opt/MicroStrategy/jar/MAEMUtilities.jar' does not exist!

CAUSE
This is a known issue in Strategy 10.2. The file referenced in the error message, 'MAEMUtilities.jar', is installed as part of the Enterprise Manager installation process and thus will not be created if Enterprise Manager is not installed. This causes the error above to be seen when trying to launch Command Manager.

ACTION
This issue no longer occurs in Strategy 10.4 and above.

WORKAROUND
There are two possible workarounds for this issue:
1) The referenced 'MAEMUtilities.jar' file is created as part of the Enterprise Manager installation; installing Enterprise Manager on the affected machine will resolve this issue.
2) If you have an existing installation of Strategy 10.2 on Linux with Enterprise Manager installed, you can retrieve the necessary file from that machine and copy it to the affected machine to resolve this issue. The location of the necessary file is /var/opt/MicroStrategy/HealthCenterInstance/jar/MAEMUtilities.jar.

This issue is being tracked by internal reference number DE28406
