KB321249: Drop-down Selector Background Color Property Cannot Be Changed in Report Services Document in Presentation Mode in MicroStrategy Web 10.4

Community Admin

• Strategy

Symptom
When working with drop down selectors in Report Services Documents, the background color selected in Properties and Formatting does not get reflected in Presentation Mode.

Cause
The fill color option is intended for Flash mode only and the default grey color cannot be changed from Properties and Formatting options. This was an intended change in Strategy 10.x for HTML5 VI and Report Services Document presentation mode.

Action

The change can be achieved by modifying the CSS for the dropdown in presentation mode using Strategy SDK.

  1. Create a plugin in Web Customization Editor and give it a meaningful name
  2. Expand Strategy Web Configuration > Pages > oivm (Optimized Interactive View Mode) > CSS> Customizations
  3. Right click on oivmPage.css and click on New Selector
  4. To change the background of the pulldown, use the following as the selector and click OK

 .mstrmojo-ui-Pulldown .mstrmojo-PopupList

5. For the property, use “background-color” and for the value, provide the color (hex, string or rgb form) followed by the “!important” tag. If you want the background of the pulldown to be the same as its container, use “transparent !important” for the value field.
6. For the drop down selector and the selected item repeat steps 3 – 5 by applying the following corresponding selector, properties and values.

/* CSS selector for the Drop-down selector itself */

//Option 1: For a solid background
.mstrmojo-ui-Pulldown .mstrmojo-ui-Pulldown-text.express {
     background-color: green !important;
     background-image: none !important;
}

//Option 2: For gradient background
.mstrmojo-ui-Pulldown .mstrmojo-ui-Pulldown-text.express {
     //Property: Value. You can apply any gradient color of your choice
     background-image: none,-webkit-linear-gradient(top, #000, #ffff00) !important;
}

/* CSS Selector for selected item in the list */
.mstrmojo-ui-Pulldown .mstrmojo-PopupList .item.selected {
     //Property: Value
     background-color: #fff !important;
}

7. Restart the web server and clear the browser cache.
