KB32156: "Cannot move XXX. The destination folder is the same as the source folder" error message appears when copying objects across two projects in MicroStrategy Object Manager.

SYMPTOM:
When users copy objects from the development project to the production project with Strategy Object Manager, the following error message comes up:

ka04W000000ObysQAC_0EM440000002EEm.gif

Cannot move 'object_name'. The destination folder is the same as the source folder.

CAUSE:
The Production metadata is a database backup of the Development Metadata. The Configuration Wizard was not used to create the second metadata.

Strategy Object Manager uses the configuration object ID and project name to uniquely identify a project. Since a database native tool duplicated the metadata, the configuration ID remains the same.

ACTION:
Modify the description of one of the projects.

In Strategy Object Manager, right click on the project name and select Properties.
