KB322170: In MicroStrategy version 10.x, data cannot be inserted into the DT_DAY table when Configuration Wizard is used to create Statistics tables and Enterprise Manager Warehouse in Chinese environment

This article documents a possible error that can be seen when creating a new Enterprise Manager warehouse in version 10.x on non-English locale operating systems

SYMPTOM
When Strategy Configuration Wizard 10.x is used to create Statistics tables and Enterprise Manager Warehouse in Chinese environments, values cannot be inserted into the DT_DAY table. The data is inserted into DT_DAY by Strategy Configuration wizard based on the locale of the Operating System. In the DSSError.log, the following error message is seen:

CAUSE
The root cause is that the inserted value of column "WEEKDAY_SDESC" is in Chinese, so it is larger than the maximum length allowed for the column, which is 5 , while the actual length of the Chinese characters is 9.
ACTION
This issue can be addressed by altering the datatype of the the description column by modifying the script which initially creates the DT_DAY table. Create a backup of the file 'CreateTablesScript.sql' located at: <install drive>:\Program Files(x86)\CommonFiles\MicroStrategy\StatisticsEnterpriseManagerScripts\DDLScripts and modify the original 'CreateTablesScript.sql' to enlarge the length of column "WEEKDAY_SDESC" in the table DT_DAY to 10.
