KB322204: Cannot format a metric on main menu in a large grid when using the Google Chrome Internet Browser. Scrolling to the far right will set the selected Grid to 'No Selection' instead of the metric name in Editable Mode in Microstrategy 10.4

SYMPTOM
The issue happens when formatting the metrics in the document grid in Editable Mode using the Google Chrome Internet Browser.  When at the Document Structure section, select the dataset, then select a metric from the drop down list of Format toolbar menu.  Next, scroll towards the right of the grid to get to the selected metric. Notice that the drop down selection of the Metrics change to the No Selection option.  
 
STEPS TO REPRODUCE

• Create a report with a grid and add enough metrics so that the horizontal scroll appears.
  

• On Strategy web 10.4 using the Google Chrome Internet Browser, create a document the dataset described in the previous step.  The grid should be small enough to force the horizontal scroll to be displayed. Then, at the top toolbar menu, select the last metric from the grid layout.
   

• Scrill to the far right of the grid and notice how the metric menu on the top toolbar switch to the ‘No Selection’ option. 

WORKAROUND
1. Select the grid from document structure tree on the left pane.
  

• Select the metric you want to format in the top Format toolbar, let’s say you want to format the ‘Revenue’ metric.
  

• Move the scrollbar under the grid, noticed current selection is lost. 

• After this, click on the left pane inside the document structure on the grid. You will see that ‘Revenue’ is still selected, and you can format that directly.  

 
*** Use IE or Firefox as the browser for formatting a large grid.
 
ACTION
This issue has been fixed in Strategy 10.4 Hotfix 3.  Please upgrade to take advantage of this fix or apply the workaround documented in this article to resolve this issue.
