SYMPTOM
In Strategy Web 10.x, when a user clicks the X button on the top right corner of a Visual Insight dashboard, the expectation is that the dashboard gets fully closed and the user is taken back to the previous folder page from where the dashboard was executed. However, in Strategy Web 10.5, when closing a prompted Visual Insight Dashboard, the user is taken back to the prompts page instead of the folder page.
Close button:

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
Follow these steps to reproduce the issue in a Strategy Tutorial Project.

  1. Create an Attribute Elements List prompt with the Category attribute.
  2. Create a report with this Attribute and the prompt created in step 1.
  3. Create a Dashboard based off that report.
  4. Run the dashboard and answer the prompt.
  5. Close the Visual Insight dashboard by clicking the X button at the top right corner.
  6. Notice that the user is taken back to the prompts page and not to the folder page from where the dashboard was executed.

CAUSE:
This is an identified defect in Strategy Web 10.5, that did not occur in Strategy Web 10.4.

ACTION
This issue has been addressed in Strategy 10.7.

WORKAROUND
To successfully close the Dashboard, use the V button, next to the X button to show the navigation bar. Use the breadcrumbs links from the Navigation bar to navigate to the folder from which the dashboard was executed.
Another alternative, is to hit the close button, and when the user arrives at the prompts page, use the breadcrumbs links from the Navigation bar to navigate to the folder from which the dashboard was executed.

The Strategy Internal Reference Number for the issue discussed in this technical note is DE42251 and DE47175.
