KB322965: The "Shopping cart" UI for defining a Predefined list of elements for a prompt has a black background in Report's Design mode in MicroStrategy Web 10.2.

SYMPTOM:
In Strategy Web 10.2, users can edit local prompts from the Design mode interface of a report. If the element prompt is based on a "Predefined list of elements", the shopping cart viewer to select that predefined list will have a dark gray background that almost entirely obscures the element names, as shown below:

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
Follow these steps to reproduce the issue in a Strategy Tutorial Project.

  1. Create a report and add Item to the template.
  2. Drag Item to the Report Filter section.
  3. Select the "Select" radio button.
  4. Click the "question mark" to make it a prompt. This makes it a local prompt.
  5. Click on the newly created prompt link "Elements of Item" to edit the prompt.
  6. Once in the prompt definition, select the radio button "Use a predefined list of elements" and hit "Add."
  7. Note that the shopping cart background is almost black.

CAUSE:
This is an identified defect in Strategy Web 10.2.
ACTION:
This issue has been fixed in Strategy 10.8.
WORKAROUND:
If possible, use an actual prompt object, not local to the report. When creating a prompt object from Strategy Web 10.2, the same Shopping Cart interface for predefining the list of elements will have the default background color. Once the prompt has been created, drag the prompt object onto the report's filter to create a shortcut prompt.
The Strategy Internal Reference Number for the issue discussed in this technical note is DE51540.
